String Fling 2013

| posted in: ensemble

Today I completed my fourth String Fling. Unlike previous years where I was frustrated with how difficult it was to learn several new pieces in a day of rehearsals, this year I was not only able to keep up, but was able to add vibrato and even use some alternate fingerings. Obviously the Gold Orchestra experience this past fall, plus another year of cello lessons, has improved my technique and my absorption rate.

At no time did I feel like I couldn’t play the music and for one piece I was able to avoid the open A string by playing in 4th position. I was able to relax and enjoy the process rather than fret about not being able to keep up.

I had fun and enjoyed the experience.
