Lost, or perhaps overlooked, in the midst of my audition last week was the fact that I have now completed Suzuki Cello book 3. I’m on to book four and considerably more difficult music. “Big boy” music as my teacher and I kid about it. The BrĂ©val Sonata in C Major, the Marcello Sonata in E Minor, a Tchaikovsk piece, and a little something by Uncle Johann - the Minuet from the Cello Suite in G Major (BWV 1007). Even imaging playing something from a Bach Cello Suite gives me chills, to think that I’ll be doing it for real in the very near future is utterly amazing. Toss in playing with an accomplished amateur orchestra in the fall and it’s going to be a great cello summer.
